Grayson Tumult was born and raised in the small steel town of Lackawanna, New York with his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Tumult's first novel Field of Nightmares, started as a short story that he wrote when he was just 12 years old. Over the years he kept adding scenes to that original story and before long he had fleshed out a full length novel.
In January of 2009, Tumult decided that it was time to finish his novel, so he took a vacation from work, hopped on a plane and flew down to St. Pete's Beach in Tampa, Florida. Over the next 5 days, he wrote from sun up to sundown and finally after many years of stops and starts he was able to type the words THE END.
After Field of Nightmares was published in 2011, Tumult left his job in Operations and became a full-time writer.
His oldest son, R.J. has a rare genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome. Tumult has spent many hours raising funds and awareness around this misunderstood, often mis-diagnosed condition. To further that effort, he has committed 10% of the profits from his debut novel to go directly to Angelman Syndrome Foundation for research and support for families who have an "Angel".
